That's really cool! His design is awesome, especially how the fins (they are fins right?) also look like wings

They're wings ^^;
My sister was inspired, I believe, by the design, featured in a certain dragon book of which I can't recal the name right this moment, of a certain golden kind of dragon *shrugs* but yeah, they're comparable to bats in how they fit into the ecosystem of wherever they come from, except that they are not nocturnal.

...'cause I've read the Sassinak books, with the "snarks in a bucket" thing, and I always wondered what a snark was.

Or is this completely unrelated?...

xD well, my sister came up with the name and the basic design. She is 10, and I don't think she's read any of sassinak's books ^^;
