Raptor costume sketch by jo-shadow Raptor costume sketch by jo-shadow
A quick cute raptor sketch, done with the same markings and such as my other dragon sketch: [link]
Am working on inking it.

This is to help work out a design for a costume
check these out to see what I mean:

Not my work there of course: Those are the baby-zillas from the 1998 Godzilla movie.

I know this is a bit older buuut... You wouldn't happen to know where I could go to find information on how to create a costume like those would you? Materials, sizes, structures... stuff that like? I'm planning on making a Godzilla based character costume if I can ever find the right help.

BTW!! If you haven't done this already (I dunno if you have I just happened to randomly come across your page) you should check out Walking with Dinosaurs for costume ideas too. They have a clever idea for the legs and such. ^^

I'm actually working on a Raptor/Dragon suit that uses the same exact idea :D Great to know theres another creature lover like me out there. Nice sketch. Oh and where in the world did you find those reference pictures? They aren't in the Godzilla 98 behind the scenes book.

Oh hey! Sorry for taking so long to reply, I was gone for the holidays.

I'm so honored, your site has been a great inspiration believe it not =D

For the first image, search "making godzilla" on google. it'll be the first result.

The second one I got off the tatopoulous studio website.

Thanks =)
I've been playing with the idea for literally years now.
I've started experimenting with digigrade stilts like that, just out of wood and clunky and such, just to get the positioning right and such.

"...and clunky..." here meaning large and ungainly ^^;
not actually made of something called 'clunky'

Heheh, I've tried my hand at digitgrade leg extensions like that; and I can agree they're cumbersome.

You probably have seen this before, but these are what I'm first trying to base mine on: [link]
Once I've gotten this working well I'll try actually using more space efficient materials like steel or aluminum.

Oh! I remember this video. I would strongly suggest using two bungee cords; the tension will help you greatly.

*chuckles* Not only will it help greatly, but it's kinda impossible to hold your legs at that angle otherwise.
